How Blue Murder Events Work

A Few Weeks Before The Event

We'll need you to supply us with a guest list. We'll match your guests with a character then send the Character Packs for you to distribute to your guests. This should be done as early as possible to make sure guests have time to put together their fancy dress costume (if desired) and to familiarise themselves with their character, their secrets and aims for the event.

What's A Character Pack?

A Character Pack will contain the following:

• Game Background

• Character Profile

• Guest List

How Will The Evening Run?

A typical Blue Murder murder mystery will follow a running order something like this:

7.15pm Guests arrive and are each handed an envelope containing the game rules, tips on how to play, skill cards, and a solution sheet. Any guest whose character has an Item (money, documents, etc) will be given these at this point.

7.30pm Once guests have read the contents of their envelopes, the murder mystery begins! The Organiser will start things off by setting the scene and reading out the first clue.

8.30pm The Organiser will read out the second clue

Guests conduct their enquiries

9.30pm Guests fill out their Solution Sheets and hand them back to the Organiser.

9.45pm The game ends with The Organiser reading the Solution, announcing the Winner(s) and reading the Epilogue.

Please note timings are approximate and will vary according to the number of guests and the game being played.

What About Refreshments?

Our murder mysteries are usually played around a 3 course dinner or buffet meal. Blue Murder Events do not supply catering but we're happy to recommend places that do.

Do We have to dress up?

It's your murder mystery, you don't have to do anything you don't want to. However, dressing up ‘in character' does help set the scene and get everybody in the right frame of mind. All our murder mysteries have been written with dressing up in mind, so costumes should be easy to create. Go on, have a good rummage at the back of your wardrobe and see what you can come up with.

Do you supply prizes?

Yes, prizes are included as part of the package. We'll provide souvenir certificates for those clever guests who correctly identify the murderer, and a bottle of bubbly for the guest who carries off 'best character' of the evening. Other prizes are avaialable by arrangement.

Can you write a game especially for us?

Absolutely. If you want a murder mystery written around a particular theme, for a certain number of people, set in a location of your choice, in fact to include anything you want, all you have to do is ask….. Contact us for a no obligation quote.
